I've a couple of concerns regarding this mod:

First, this mod does not meet the usual coding standards used in other YaBB mods. It does not offer an installable .mod file, you have to modify things according to a readme.

Also the code itself appears to be written without any in-depth knowledge of YaBB's code base. For example, it does not use YaBB's file locking mechanism. In other words: if you install this mod, you risk to loose parts of your database (in case a data file is accessed more than once at the same time).

And finally, there are truly free chat mods available here [1] [2], I see no need to spend money on a mod like this since better alternatives are available.

michael, please help me.

We are trying to modify our module of YaBB as your advice. But we met a difficulty about how to change open() to fopen(). Could you please teach us.

Quote:
I've noticed that in your code you're using perls open() function to read
YaBB's database files (e.g. to read the user profile files). I highly recommend to
use YaBB's fopen() and fclose() versions of this function instead, because they take
care of file locking (in case multiple users access the same file at once).

Thank you very much. Waiting for your reply.

Sincerely,
lisa

Hello, I like a chat room which is very dynamic. Do you have a chat room with a three-dimensional vision?
