Just in time with the new YaBB 2.2 we present a new BoardMod version: 2.5.6. It now comes with initial support for YaBB 2.1 and 2.2. Furthermore all outstanding bugs have been closed for this release. See below for a complete list of changes. An update is very easy, just run the installer.

YaME 1.0.4: fixed .mod file association problem (Bug No. 1481232)

BM 2.5.6 worked fine for me the first two or three times I opened it, but ever since then I've been confronted with the error shown in the attached screenshot. As you can see in the screenshot, the directory it's looking for does definitely exist.

Hm looks like Vista is giving a lot of poeple some headache. A user has reported a similar probelm with the old version here. It very strange, I can't reproduce with my Vista Business edition so I have no way to debug this problem. Undecided

I've reinstalled BoardMod in my Documents folder to see if that will work better. I think the problem might be with the MS security layers within the Program Files directory or something.

Hm ok I managed to reproduce the error. It appears to be pretty random, but surely is related to the Vista-UAC thingy. You either have to install boardmod into one of your user directories or you have to run BoardMod as administrator (this solves the issue for me).

I am currently using an older version of YaBB (YaBB Gold 1.3.1) with several mods installed. I am considering upgrading the forum software to this new version but before I do my questions on version 2.5.6 are:

1) will it allow the administrator the ability to limit IM and posting of new (and existing) members?

2) does it allow video content to be viewed in posts?

3) Where do I download to do a fresh install on this new version?

4) Do I need to install v2 first?

5) Is there a list of all the features in this new version?

I think you're confusing BoardMod and YaBB. YaBB is the forum software which you're running on your website. BoardMod is only the software which makes it easier to apply modifications to this software. If you want to upgrade your forum to a new version, the YaBB website would be the best place to start:

There you can find instructions and info on the new features the new 2.x release of yabb offers.
