As the next release is currently being developed in high gear I want to publish the mods that are (almost) certainly going to be added to the base package (unless the author does not agree).

- Update Session (Curtiss)
- Skype Mod (Spikecity)
- Multiple FA (not a mod yet)
- Admin Center Update (Curtiss)
- Cloak User ID (Spikecity)
- Ban Guestnames (Curtiss)
- Buddylist PM (not a mod)
- Default Profile options on registration (more then the current group on registration mod)

This DOES NOT imply that we think that other Y2 mods are inferior or bad, but these are easy to implement and non load adding features.
After all we did manage to cut the processing time of the latest CVS with almost 50% (thanks to AK108) and we do not want to loose this performance over extra features that are not common for a BBS.

There's probably more on our list, but these are the most important things we work on.

Other then that the next release will allow users to login using their registration id, their email address or their screenname.

All but admin approved registration is in in some form as far as I know.
Admin approved registration is not so difficult I think.

    Hi

Oh sorry ... it is a addon for 'Advanced Registration Options'
I lost the "Moderated Registration" by Admin ....

    http://www.boardmod.org/mods.php?searchfor=EMARO1.zip

Now, when a member signs up, they will have to enter a reason, and the admin can approve or not.

We have included this feature on YaBBServer 1.4 ... and i know this is most wanted by forum-admins

You can see it in action here ...

    http://www.xonder.de/cgi-bin/yabbserver/foren/F_0001/YaBB.cgi?action=register

If you want .. i can send you a YaBB 1.4 version!?

I upgraded to yabb 2 when it was released and it is awsome Smiley But my last board had registration options and it saved loads of time as my board is a cleaning forum and we only allow members proper identity. Looking forward to the next release 8)

There has actually been quite a bit of progress (the official YaBB support boards are running one of the latest CVS builds - so you can see some of the new features that have been added already).

It will be released when it is released.  Unfortunately, there is still no way to pinpoint even an estimated release date.

Ok. well I mean I see you said no real way to tell the time, but its nothing in the next few days or anything right? like you think for sure more than a month? i just check here just about everyday to see if its been released and if i know it will be more than maybe a month or something, I wont' have to check everyday. Thank you for the quick reply.

    Hi hhpe,

I'm not involved in the development of the next release at all, so I'm only guessing from an outside estimate... but my guess would be around 3 months.

I say 3 months because I'm guessing that it will be between a month or two... but delays happen in any project, so I'm adding on another month to make my guess 3 months.

Then for those mods that won't be included as features in the next release... figure another 1 to 2 months for the majority of mods to catch up.

So for the next release -and- mods for it... potentially 2 to 5 months.  In other words, the infamous & notorious... "when it's ready" applies.

Check your local listings.  Your mileage may vary.  Batteries not included.  Use at your own risk.  And as always... no wagering please. Grin

Hopefully it'll be done sooner, but it will be done when it's done. And I think it'll be worth the wait -- check out the YaBBForum.com forums to see fairly recent code.
