Thank you for the advice Wink I have tried to use boardmod but to be honest i am going to find someone to install it for me. It would be ashame to mess up a decent board with a lot of members. Would anyone here install this mod for me for a fee?

I've just installed this mod on my forum. It seems to be trying to work, but there are a couple of problems with it.

1. The email to Admin when a new user registers is not being sent, so I don't know whether there is a member awaiting approval or not without checking the admin pages.

2. Upon approval, the email sent to the new member doesn't include the password. All it sends is just the link to the forum's home page.

Any ideas please ?

Are you sure you filled in the
"New registered member email sent to:" field correctly? The usernames are case sensitive in this box. Also the usernames you put here must be either an admin or global moderator.

This mod does not send them a password. It only is supposed to send them an email stating that they were approved and a link to the forum but no password is inluded. What password do you think they should get?

Sorry, I wondered why it kept emptying the field everytime. I was putting in the email address. This is working now, thanks.

Ok, I think I understand. If this is not supposed to send the password, then installing this mod seems to have disrupted the means by which a password is emailed upon registration. These are the only emails I got during registration of username "bbb"

It is possible because I never tested it. I'll check once a get a chance but in the meantime just make sure all your settings are correct.

This is high on the "wanted" list in Y2.2, so please test it thoroughly and let's put it in (regardless of the feature stop).
This is an enhancement/improvement in my opinion, so it should be in before release Wink

Is this going to be in 2.2 because if it is i think i will wait Undecided Also will this mod work with yabb 2?

Thank You

Hi DOT

I've been playing around with this for the last half hour and I think I've found what the problem is.

The problem only occurs with the Approval On - before join, i.e. no email is sent with a password enabling the new user to log on. Admin approval doesn't help as you can see from my earlier post.

If I set it to either of the other two options,  view mode or user profile, it seems to work as intended. For now I have it working as it should do. If I have any more problems I'll come back.

Thanks for your replies and hope you can find the bug in the 'before join' option.

tdubya, so just to be sure that when the password doesn't get sent, what are the settings (checked or unchecked) you have for the following:
" Email Random Password to New Member Upon Registration? "
" Use Pre-registration and account activation "

Both of these are ticked. Hope that answers your question DOT-COM. Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks.

To answer your first question I have the following set.
Code:

Disable user registration (only admin can register)? "unchecked"

Show and require agreement letter when registering? "checked"

Force member to submit reason for joining? "checked"

Use Pre-registration and account activation "checked"

Max time span for users to activate their account hours "48"

Approval Method "Approval On - Before join"

Send email to Admin/Gmod if new member register? "checked"
(checked=yes, unchecked=no)

New registered member email sent to: "Put your admin username here"
(specify admin/gmod username(s) separated by comma or space)

These settings will let users register and activate their account and then I approve them or disapprove them.

Also keep in mind, that you must have the following setting "unchecked". There is presently a bug when this is turned on.  This isn't a showstopper because you will mostly likely never want to turn this on.
Code:

" Email Random Password to New Member Upon Registration? "

To answer your second post. You can send custom Approval/Denial emails by writing in the box provided. Go to your admin section on click on the menu called "Approval/Disapproval Members". You should see a box below with text to the left of it called "Add this text to mail:" Just write want to want to add to the email and when you approve/disapprove new members that text will be sent out to them.

In the first part of your reply you say you have
Use Pre-registration and account activation  Checked

In the second part of your reply you say not to check it ? Which one is right?

Thank You
