Hello, I have been working on a mod now for a good few months and it is almost at the completion stage. However I dont know if this mod would be suitable for everybody, therefore I have not decided if I will let this go public. I'll just explain what my mod does, please post if you want the mod released, if theres not going to be much demand then theres not much point in changing lots of stuff so it will be compatable for everyones boards.
My mod can be found here:
http://www.time-clan.com/?action=tournaments
Features:
Language: ENGLISH ONLY (language packs available at a later date).
Create an unlimited amount of 1v1 tournaments.
Create a ladder for the tournament.
Tournament sizes of 4 and 8 players, though I will be making it bigger in the future.
Add/Delete/modify players who apply.
Manually changable ladder.
Credits scheme (you MUST have a cedits scheme using Michael Pragers Extended profiles mod untill final release.)
Automatically emails players when a tournament has started.
Select groups who can apply.
Screenshots:
The code is horrible, but it does its job well. Still a few minor bugs, but they should all be fixed in a few days time.
You can see this mod working at
www.time-clan.com
.
Many thanks to AK108 for all the help and support he has given me on my first mod

Hi jam3z,
Very cool. I hope you decide to keep developing this and release it as a final mod. This could be another bonus mod that could help gamers to choose YaBB.

I fully agree ... this looks awesome ... could even be used for RPG ... I've seen a fighting based RPG that this would definately be great for!

I made it for CnC Generals a strategy game. It wouldnt particualy work with FPS games, as you play in a group and bot by yourself.

a tournament bracketing system can be used in any number of games and events... just depends on the imagination of the gamemaster or event coordinator.

Oh, by luck I never read that and just went and made what you were after!
If you want to help me complete this mod them please, get in touch. I was only planning on keeping it formyself because at the moment it can ONLY be used on my website.
...things could change though

I would love to, but... I am just terrible at coding. I couldn't code my way out of a paper GOSUB statement.
You know jam3z, there is another possibility here. Offer up your code here for the community to adopt as a community mod.
There have been a few mods here on BoardMod that had been released by their original modwriters to the mod community to pickup and further develop; while a few other mods had been orphaned by modwriters who either left the community or disappeared.
A few mods have been worked on by multiple people. Sometimes one person would do a particular fix. Another would come up with a new version. Another still with a new feature. Progressing the mod as a group.
You on the other hand could make this a community mod from the beginning. Just a thought.

Indeed. This mod could probably be integrated really well with the Games mod, and we could hold tournaments for our Flash/Java games.
It really is a cool idea.

Yes probably.
There is still a little bit of work to do before I start dishing out the source code, I still havnt decided whether I should or shouldn't release it as a mod, simply because I designed it for my needs, on my own board.

Heres the code for my mod, anyone can modify it if they wish to do so. I really cant be botherd to modify it anymore. I think the code is terrible, but it works 100% on my forums, if you can make it compatable on your forums and release it then please go ahead, its not doing any good sitting on my hard drive.
