YaMS 4.02 - Yet another Memberlist SP1.1/1.2

This mod re-arrange your member list and adds a lot of new features.

New since ver. 3.53:

Admin can choose between Images (as now) or Text in columns for e-mail, WWW, IM, ICQ, YIM, AIM and MSN
View/hide IM columns in memberlist from admin-center
Admin can choose between different bar colors and styles from Admin-center
Admin can upload new bars to the bars-folder
All add-ons for 3.53 included (except IP in Profile)

Features are now:

Compatible with Add More Membergroups and MSN mod
Red/green "led" indication for members online/offline
Admin can choose between Images (as now) or Text in columns for e-mail, WWW, IM, ICQ, YIM, AIM and MSN
View/hide e-mail, WWW, IM, ICQ, YIM and AIM columns in memberlist from admin-center
View/hide MSN column in memberlist from admin-center (if MSN mod by Shoeb Omar is installed)
View/hide registration-date column in memberlist from admin-center
Admin can choose between different bar colors and styles from Admin-center
Admin can upload new bars to the bars-folder
Set max. bar-length to depend on top poster, 500 or 100 posts from admin-center
Let users sort memberlist by alphabet, membergroups, number of posts or registration-date
Set default sort-column from admin-center
Members sorted alphabetical inside membergroups
Let users switch between newest member last or first
Special characters in View by letter
Admin can sort memberlist by e-mail domain
Admin can view members latest 3 (different) IP's in member list
Admin can search members by latest 3 IP's
Admin can click on an IP in memberlist to find other members with same IP
Admin can sort memberlist by IP
Member number assigned by date of registration and shown in memberlist, profile and message index
Admin can reset (compact) member numbers
Admin can allow/disallow guest-acces to memberlist

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ:

Instructions:

1. Upload .gif from the Images folder into your images dir (in binary mode)
2. Upload the YaMSbars folder (incl. the bar .gifs) outside your cgi-bin dir (in binary mode)

3. Apply mod.

4. OPEN Settings.pl AND MAKE SURE THE PATH TO THE YaMSbars FOLDER IS CORRECT. IF THE DIR. AND URL TO YOUR YaMSbars FOLDER IS NOT SET CORRECT THE "FORUM PREFERENCES AND SETTINGS" AREA IN YOUR "ADMIN CENTER" WILL BE BROKEN.

BuddyList 1.2 add-on for YaMS 4.02

This add-on for YaMS 4.02 adds a Buddylist to YaBB SP1/1.1/1.2
From Memberlist members can add (or delete) buddies to their own Buddylist.
The member can send IM's to one, some or all buddies from the Buddylist.

I just uploaded a new .zip to download from first post. The new mods now only search for the first line: # Set as 0 or 1 if box was checked or not This should minimize risk of problems

It loads up all the way to the sort by max posts section and then stops. The submit button no longer appears either so you can't make any changes. It's too bad. I'd really like to use this mod.

Make sure you uploaded the YaMSbars folder and set the path correctly. I see that you have changed the default images folder - the bars folder works in the same way and should be set up accordingly in the Settings.pl

(it starts loading.. the browser window is white, and then it reloads again and again... well... i can only kill the process then!)

I dunno what went wrong, but I installed the mod with BoardMod, and this is how my AdminEdit screen looks like now: http://www.britneyspears.dk/FTPupload/YaBB_YaMS.jpg (I tried uninstalling by hand and then manually adding the steps to AdminEdit.pl, but with the same result.) Any ideas what can be causing it?

Make sure you upload the YaMSbars folder and set the foldersettings correctly in your Settings.pl I know i did not mention this in the first readme.txt file - i do now.

@rustyduck - my guess is that you have the "Even more advanced registration opptions" mod installed - if this is true you can do this:

In the YaMS .mod file near the bottom find:

I am still getting:

Step 58 ... failed - ERR(10): The search string is empty! However an empty <search for> argument is

not allowed because it would make the mod unremoveable.

Here are the mods that are installed:

YaBB 1 Gold - SP 1.1\file_attachment.mod
YaBB 1 Gold - SP 1.1\newcalendar3_4.mod

You could try this:

no guaranties as i know there are some incompatibility issues between EMARO and YaMS.
Maybe the best thing to do is to uninstall EMARO - install YaMS - install EMARO for YaMS.

I tried installing ver. 3.53, but I couldn't. It failed at step 1. So I downloaded this version 4.02, and it fails at step 7, with the same following error message:

@x-framez - the problem is that the Speed Boost mod replaces that line in YaBB.pl

You can open the YaMS mod file and find:

and replace it with:

then you should be able to install YaMS.

@Jake - YaMS 4.02 is more or less a total rewrite, so an update would be allmost as large as the mod it self.

Maybe you should mail me the YaMS mod file where you made the change and i'll test it on BoardMod.

@BHRA - i've seen it now - what can i say?
I like the two seperate mods as they are now - more flexibility - more room for developing specific admin or user features.
Actually i see no reason for combining two mods that's running nicely alone or side by side, other than to give users less choises.

Ok, I installed this mod off a fresh source for yabb 1 gold - sp 1.1. The only Mod I have installed is add more membergroups, and I installed the yams402amm_sp11 using board mod v2.5.1.....

And now when I go into the forum preference and settings, the page comes up and all.....But the save button at the bottom of the page has disappeared, I cannot save any changes I make to my board....Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dumb question here, is this mod not compatible with the Global Moderator mod? I thought it was at first because I saw a global moderator listed in the test board, but it's failing at a step where there is Global Moderator code, I can fairly easily remove that mod and install Add More Membergroups if that also has global moderator within it. My apologies, I could go searching for answers but I'm short on free time. (love those toddlers) Undecided

One line of the code in step 40 does not match, where in the mod it has

There are a couple of other mods I'm going to install that are compatible with AMM and may not be compatible with Global Moderator mod. I don't want to have to redo it all again. @Carsten- Thanks, better now. Two questions regarding YAMS, one about the IP search facility. I love it, but I've tried searching a range of IP addresses, such as 217.34.*, is this possible? Reason being that it would make checking out new members easier, when comparing to past banned members IP ranges. Dang trolls. Roll Eyes

Other question is a little problem I have in the Members website display. Now some of the members (without sites) displaying the site image but the url being "http:///" Any idea what might be causing this? I did once change a bit of code because people weren't putting the "http://" in their site URL info, so that it would automatically put that in the text field.

The IP-search thing was a quick solution for a request and quite simple. Maybe later i will make it a littel more advanced.

The http:// you've put into the text field is the problem. I would make a test on the url field input for the first 6 characters to be http:// and add them if not.

Remove the code that puts http:// in the textfield.

In Profile.pl find:

and add after:

            if($member{'websiteurl'} !~ m~\Ahttp://~ && $member{'websiteurl'} ne "") { $member{'websiteurl'} = "http://$member{'websiteurl'}"; }

This will add the http:// to the website-url (if it is not allready there) before it's saved to the members.dat file.

Ok. I have it yams 1.1 moded. No BoardMod errors. Copied all the files in and when I go into Forum Preferences and settings,(FPS) I get "an error as occured" to the right of the board title and their are no buttons to save anything on the bottom of the FPS page.

The yams mod does show up in the FPS page. Below that are no buttons. What do you think happened?

EMROL is not installed!

That was my other question. The issue of the bars. YaMSbars, according to your instructions say they should be installed outside my cgi-bin folder. I'm not sure why but the system I'm on, won't allow me to create a new folder there.

I have it just inside the cgi-bin folder. I'm excited because I might actually get this mod in but I got this issue.

OK, I put the folder in the same place as the Yabbimages folder is. Then I adjust the settings.pl exactly as you mentioned and I get the same error. However, if I use the path:

$barsdir = "../../cgi-bin/YaMSbars";
$barsurl = "http://www.edivaonline.com/yabbblue/YaMSbars";

I don't get the error. But the images are still red x's.

BTW, yabbblue is the temporary location for this board. I could net get my other board to work.

In the directory where you have your "YaBBHelp" and "YaBBImages" folders you should make a "YaMSbars" folder with all the bars .gif files in it (not in your cgi-bin).

Then in your Settings.pl:

Hmm ok i wanted to install this one onto my modsboard but it failed. first i got an error on Settings.pl, so i removed those step and thought it could all be set through the admin panel later. I don't like the way to install anything into the Settings.pl because you will fail if you want to remove the mod later and you've changed just 1 setting...

Also it installed all fine except 1 step for Settings.pl and it seems because i removed the steps with settings.pl i got a messed layout in the Admin Panel. It's no problem for me to fix this but i just wanted to say i don't like to install any settings to the settings.pl! Maybe 4.03 will install without those hardcoded settings?

My problem is that to make the bars visible in "Forum Pref. and Settings" you need that path the first time you enter. This problem has been haunting me ever since the release of ver. 4.02 - so any suggestion would be most welcome

I got a small question and maybe it's for another thread. I got Yams 4.02 installed and it looks really good with the blue template. Now I want to put in this moderated registration mod (EMORL1) and it's not cooporating. Much of what it's looking for doesn't exist.

Now the reason why I posted this here was when I had my other board up, I couldn't install YAMS and it was suggested I remove EMROL1 before installing YAMS. Now I can't get EMROL on.

Anybody have any ideas?

I've tested it into my local yabb and works fine. You also may write an own .PL file and require it into the yabb.pl and call the sub routine there. It wrote the dirs for my board. You should tell the users to upload the bars dir into YaBBImages for that example. The settings they should set later then cause the memberlist wouldn't show anything or you can set the memberlist to default if nothing is set to the settings.pl like

Ok, well with that information you gave me I did some messing around (broke the board a few times) but I think I found something you might want to do for the next version in the display.pl you have this code:

If you change it to:

It gets the side profile in posts to say Member #1 but the member's list sill has the small box. Just though you might want that info. And thanks for your help on this suff.

Hi Carsten - great mod as usual. I just noticed something that i hadn't noticed before with the memberlist. I don't know if it's conflict with another mod or a bug. I can view the memberlist sorted in any way but Sorted by IP without any problem.

When I Sort by IP, The display does work properly - I get the number of members per page listed and the bottom links to all the pages , but after the bottom link table I have this error:
Wide character in print at ./Sources/Subs.pl line 187.

This is my line 187 in Subs.pl:

I'm thinking that there might be a little glitch in my Memberlist.pl since all the other sort displays work without this error.

Any light you can shed on this would be most beneficial - this is a minor issue since the members can't see it. If you need to see my Memberlist.pl, let me know.

That problem is solved.

I have another though. Some settings don't seem to work. Like the colour of the pins. I try and change it so red is the N/A colour, but it stays green. Things like this ???

If you mail me your modded YaBB.pl i'll test it with your Memberlist.pl

I'd like to get this work with extended profiles. There seems to be these three lines that prevent installation correctly

which were added by extended profiles. So where should I (could I) add those lines after first removing them so that STEP 39 could go through?

EDIT: Bloody hell... now the damn thing creates more errors. In files which haven't been touched... Grin

But, mostly missing spaces and such.

Heya Major Cool mod i just have one prob well the mod runs great i had loads of hiccups but as i've read its just the same as everyone else's. Thought it was kidna funny that someone should remove the save button at the bottom Roll Eyes

Anyway fixed that and got it all up and running but the admin looks major weird!! its all squashed to the side which makes it hard to read. Is there anyway to fix tthis so that it goes right to the end or am i stuck with this?? Undecided

Fixed in the .zip package now. In Memberlist.pl find in MLByLetter and MLByIP subroutines two instances of: $male.gif and $female.gif (one of each in each subroutine) and remove the leading $ sign... The gradient headers are just graphics added to your template title class: Code:

Of course you should change the URL, colors and image-file to fit your board...

Ah - I found the download thing "you call it rating".
it's great. I noticed on your testboard (that I love the looks of) that at the bottom it says your powered by yabb 1.1 ?
Are you still using 1.1 or is that 1.3?

I have 1.1 because I'm using a old attach photos mod. This is what has stopped me from upgrading but I heard from a friend that there is a photo attachment mod for 1.3 now.

I like the looks of yours - how do add the background line graphic?

How to add the golden gradient headers which I really like.

How to force the width to lock in at constant size? Though I don't know if that's a good idea for me.

p.s. - to write mods what do we need to learn, what books would be good to get, it's cgi scripting right?

I've tried to manually install mods since board mod won't install them on mine. And the .cgi never works after I mod it. I'm real careful to do it as it explains (do extra spaces or LF make a difference in the code?)
I tried the map mod and it said edit the YABB.PL file and I don't have that, I'm using the YABB.cgi file.
The fine and edits were all there so I assumed it would work. What is the difference in .pl or .cgi of the yabb main file?

No difference - the only reason for the .cgi version is that some (a few) hosts dont allow execution of .pl files.
