BoardMod 2.5.6 released!

Just in time with the new YaBB 2.2 we present a new BoardMod version: 2.5.6. It now comes with initial support for YaBB 2.1 and 2.2. Furthermore all outstanding bugs have been closed for this release. See below for a complete list of changes. An update is very easy, just run the installer.

New YaBB version released: 2.2

It has been a long time since the last YaBB release. But it was worth the waiting as it comes with tons of features that were only available as mods in the past.

Since YaBB introduces a lot of code changes, most mods will need a rewrite to work with it. For that purpose two new boards have been created: one for Y2.2 final mods and one for beta mods that still need testing.

BTW: we still need a couple of moderators for the new boards. So if you want to give it a try, let me know.

Security Update for YaBB 2.1

I just got word from cyberarmy.net that they can no longer provide use their irc server for use. We'll move to irc.freenode.net #boardmod instead. I've changed the java chat client already.

New mods in database

Hi YaBB modders!

I finally managed to get all the stable YaBB2/2.1 mods into the database. That are 48 new or updated mods in total.

In case that you're a mod writer and still have a mod in the "YaBB2 Beta" board: You can consider it stable if nobody found a bug in a few weeks after release. In that case notify Spikecity or me and we'll move it the the FINAL mods board and add it to the database.

MODS included in the next YaBB 2

As the next release is currently being developed in high gear I want to publish the mods that are (almost) certainly going to be added to the base package (unless the author does not agree).

- Update Session (Curtiss)
- Skype Mod (Spikecity)
- Multiple FA (not a mod yet)
- Admin Center Update (Curtiss)
- Cloak User ID (Spikecity)
- Ban Guestnames (Curtiss)
- Buddylist PM (not a mod)
- Default Profile options on registration (more then the current group on registration mod)

This DOES NOT imply that we think that other Y2 mods are inferior or bad, but these are easy to implement and non load adding features.
After all we did manage to cut the processing time of the latest CVS with almost 50% (thanks to AK108) and we do not want to loose this performance over extra features that are not common for a BBS.

There's probably more on our list, but these are the most important things we work on.

Other then that the next release will allow users to login using their registration id, their email address or their screenname.

[RELEASE] YaBB 2.1 is here - rid of YaBB 1 now!

The YaBB Team is proud to announce the first update to YaBB 2:

YaBB 2.1

This release is a highly recommended update, as it fixes many bugs, closes security issues, and provides a few feature enhancements. Most notably include: SMTP mailing improvements, converter/admin center rebuild functionality to recreate past member recent post history, date/time improvements and fixes, and a .gif file test upon attachment (for security). If you haven't already updated to YaBB 2 from YaBB 1, we recommend you do so at this stage in development.

- Added rebuild member post history log Admin function
- Added rebuild member post history log to Converter
- Added notification.png to menu to differentiate from post display's notify.png in translations
- Added multibyte character support to category names
- Changed profile DST setting to a checkbox
- Made message icon on each post link to the individual replies
- Restricted signature height if there are more than 15 new lines in it
- Added last modified date to .htaccess when written with the Guardian
- Moved MD5 Perl module lower and added HMAC_MD5 module
- Added rel="nofollow" to all viewprofile links to prevent bot spidering
- New SMTP engine to add more options and support more standards, such as EHLO/HELO handshake selection
- Added admin activation of account registration
- Made the saved CSS file from the WYSIWYG editor a little more "YaBB"-like

- Changed password reminder to show new password in a read-only input field so it's easier to copy

- Changed forum start date to select boxes
- Made Mail Members only overwrite "re-used" mails, not all subject-matching mails
- Changed select box for moving topics sort properly and use option groups for better readability

- Disabled board picture field if the board is an announcement or recycle bin board

Moved to new server

As some of you might have experienced, we have moved to a new (and faster) server in past few hours. Just in case you're wondering why the page was down. I looked over the page and it looks like everything made it, but nevertheless if you find something on here that stopped working, please let me know.

small template vault update

I've added a color preview to the template database (see screenshot) and increased the templates per page from 10 to 20. That should give a better overview about the available styles.

BoardMod 2.5.4 released!

On the road to v3.0 we make a small stop to maintain the current version. This release includes a couple of smaller bugfixes and now officially supports the newer YaBB versions (in other words: it comes with the SP1.4 and Y2 folders ). This time it also includes some "under the hood" changed: we've migrated from Delhi6/Kylix2 to Delhi7/Kylix3 so we'll profit from recent updates to these development environments.
