TeX 4 YaBB 2.4

This mod will implement "jsMath" into YaBB to enable conversion of TeX code to math formulas.

New ubbc tag: [tex]...[/tex] - insert button added next to the 'timestamp' button.

Jan 21st, 2010 at 2:21am - beta 0.2 - Added buttons (144  Shocked ) for inserting TeX symbols and macros. Made equations show in Live Preview too.

Jan 23rd, 2010 at 8:19am - beta 0.2a - Fixed bug in showing equations in Live Preview. All changes are in 'yabbfiles/jsMath/easy/load.js'.

If you are not familiar with the TeX code, here's a chart showing most of the symbols and the code:
http://web.ift.uib.no/Teori/KURS/WRK/TeX/symALL.html

TeX 4 YaBB24 should work 'out of the box' for most boards, but for hardcore math buffs it's highly recommended to download and install the "TeX" fonts on their local computer. Further information and download at:

My forum is as far from math as you can get (Children's fiction), but I will test installation, if desired.

Great mod for those who can benefit from it!

Thanks guys

@ Jet - thanks for the German language patch - but everything has changed now - in beta 0.2 TeX 4 YaBB has it's own language file.

@ batchman - never heard of Harry Potter Math?  Grin

beta 0.2 - added buttons to insert TeX symbols and macros. Made equations show in Live Preview too. New zip package in first post.

Fantastic. Thank you very much indeed. As a 'helper' on the Science Forums - can't post the link yet (1st posting) but it has sciencefile in the middle and org/forum at the end - this is right up our street.  I'll let you know more when our Administrator has had time to install it and we've had a play, but it looks just the ticket.

No, I have never heard of Harry Potter math ... but now I'm going to have to go searching the internet.

Looks like a hint of the Character Board mod in here, now.

Fixed bug in showing equations in Live Preview. All changes are in 'yabbfiles/jsMath/easy/load.js'.

@Carsten
thnx for new update. Now we need a compatible mod with Reason Mod.

Step 14 I have this in

Post.pl
Code
Select All
<tr>
	~;
	if ($post ne "imsend" && $postid ne "Poll" && ($action eq 'modify' || $action eq 'modify2') && ( $iammod || $iamadmin || $iamgmod )) {
		$yymain .= qq~
			<td align="left" class="windowbg2" width="23%"><label for="reason"<b>$post_txt{'70a'}:</b></label></td>
			<td align="left" class="windowbg2" width="77%"><input type="text" name="reason" id="reason" value="$reason" size="70" maxlength="50" tabindex="6" style="width: 437px;" /></td>
		</tr><tr>~;
	}
	$yymain .= qq~
		<td class="windowbg2" width="23%" align="left" valign="top">
			<label for="message"><b>$post_txt{'72'}:</b></label><br /><span class="small">$post_txt{'resizedescript'}</span>

greetings

Hmm - i've made the mod 'install compatible' with the 'Reason' mod.

'Install compatible' means the 'Reason' input field will display between the TeX buttons and the ubbc buttons - looking a little odd.

Would have been nicer (and more logic) if the 'Reason' mod had used the code for the 'Subject' field as search string (would have caused less change to existing code).  Wink

As Administrator of The Science Forums I would like to convey, on behalf of our members, a huge thank you to Carsten for this splendid Mod - and to the redoubtable Captain John for pointing us to it. We have been looking for exactly something like this Mod for a very long time. It works perfectly - the installation was painless (although it didn't get added to the list of installed Mods) and all is working wonderfully. I just hope that a version for YaBB 3 will be made available!  Wink

We are very grateful for your excellent work. Thank you!

Kind regards
Andy Briggs
