Rad-one, the tabs one user sees, everyone sees.  They are global, not personal to their template view.  So you can imagine what your forum tabs would look like if you have 75 members and they all add a tab or two for themselves.

What could happen, you ask?  Well, suppose a human spammer capable of reading and successfully signing up for membership gets on your forum and can add any tabs they want.  Next time you log on you find 50 rows of tabs linked to porn sites, Viagra-by-mail sources, that kind of junk.  Or maybe they just edit all your added tabs to go to some spam site.  Or maybe some disgruntled member gets mad one day and deletes them all.  That's why the Admin is the only one allowed to add or edit tabs.

the text in the tab box/button seems to sit AT THE TOP of the box.

http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl

I'd like to move it down slightly .. to center it vertically in its 'box' (button).

How might I do that?

actually it is centered.. but looks closer to the top due to the orange line..Notice how the selected tab the text looks centered?  (the line is higher on the image) might try aligning the text to bottom.. in the css see if it works better for ya

Code
Select All
}
.tabmenu span {
	float: left;
	height: 24px;
	background-color: transparent;
	background-image: url(./default/tab211.png);
	background-repeat: repeat-x;
	margin: 0;
	border: 0;
	padding: 0;
	vertical-align: middle;
	text-align: center;
	cursor: pointer;

changing the highlighted  to read ...  bottom should do the trick

But if the tabs feature were config'ed so that ONLY the individual user saw the tabs he added ...

that would be okay .. just like each individual user sees only the template they select for their usage .. along with other customizable features.

actually, bottom didn't do much.

i also added a line-height of 30px.

that did the trick.

i think the prob is that the top-border of the element just below gives illusion that the box/button is bigger than it really is.

see what i mean? you can tell by where the separator-lines stop.

where is the property-control for that brown/orange line above tab-buttons?

is that the tab211.png background image?

Board names are bold.

I have removed all bold/strong tags from my CSS yet still they remain bold.

I looked at the generated source code. It's a bold tag.

Do you know where the properties are that control the appearance of board names?

Well, this is the right site to ask for a mod to do that.  I have no idea how complex that would be, one of the mod writers might know.

The bold tags are found in the yabb2/Templates/templatename/BoardIndex.template file

Code
Select All
$boardblock = qq~
<tr>
	<td class="windowbg" width="6%" align="center" valign="middle">
		<a href="{yabb boardurl}">{yabb boardpic}</a>
	</td>
	<td class="windowbg" width="54%" align="left" valign="middle">
		{yabb new} <a name="{yabb boardanchor}" href="{yabb boardurl}"><b>{yabb boardname}</b></a><br />
		{yabb boarddesc}
		<div class="small" style="font-style:italic;">{yabb moderators}</div>
	</td>

Just remove the highlighted tags from your BoardIndex.template file and save changes.

You are the man!

Thank you!

Can you tell me if I can change the color (of that link) .. and nothing else?

Update: I replaced the bold tag with a span with class of boardName and set the color in CSS

.boardName and
.boardName:hover

It worked.

Hmmm. How do I do the same for the board title on this page?

http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?board=forum_website

I'm looking in MessageIndex.template, but don't see it listed there.

Hey RadOne.... not to be critical, but just to inform in case you didn't know.

Did you ever stop to consider that this thread is supposed to be only about the MidNyte template?  Users who want to know about the template are going to have to wade all through this when it would probably be better if you asked these questions here in the Template Help and Troubleshooting board or on YaBB in the Graphics board.

Okay, I'll quit. Hadn't thought about that. Sorry.

One of the favorite things I like about this template is the background design in the Post/Reply box. Very cool. Where did you get that?

I custom made it.. made several before I settled on that one..the others used diagnal line but they all made text hard to read.
Its been a part of that template since i first made it  for 2.1.. for my main site.. of course.. its about the only thing that has not changed thru-out the versions Smiley

@ Cable
Thanks for helping mod the thread. Its always good to see people try to keep forums organized Smiley

Really nice color scheme and layout.

Just a quick question:
When setting up for first use in Configuration~Posts, the drop down box shows two "midnyte" selections?

Its a new 2.4 install. So just curious if it is something I did wrong while uploading the template files?

TIA

You didnt do anything wrong.. It seems I left a .BAK file in the template folder by mistake..  YaBB is reading it as well as the regular template file..
using your ftp program.. go to \cgi-bin\yabb2\Templates\midnyte
and delete the file named Display.template.bak and it will no longer be listed in the post selection..
Sorry about that.. I should have examined the folder more closely before I packaged it up  Embarrassed
Thanks for pointing it out.. I updated the zipfile so it will not happen for to anyone else Smiley
