This mod will allow users to resize the textarea on post/reply page by dragging the right and bottom borders. The size will be saved to members .vars file when the message is saved or previewed.

[release 1.1] Now also adds user option to change the size of the message text area text size.

[beta 0.2] not a bug fix - just added a small explanatory text to make the resize option more obvious to the user.

This mod is implemented as standard feature in YaBB 2.2.1

Sure i could post a screenshot of the posting page - but you would not see any difference  Wink

When you hover the right- or bottom border of the textarea the cursor change to a 'e-resize' or 'n-resize' arrow and you just hold down the left mouse button and drag - exactly as you do with normal windows.

aha ok. seems like to rplace with current last cvs files? Dont know if we could use your feature, but MF-B things on last CVS need clear cache to see width.  Tongue

Hmm - i still dont get your point Jet Li??

The purpose of this mod is to give the user a easy way to resize height and width of the textarea on the fly.

Letting admin set height and width in css vill not help the user with that issue.

Ok - now i get it - i think you mean it the other way around: "...replace Mf-Bs code with your feature"  Wink
Please remember that adding new features to a 'bug fix release' should always be discussed in the team first.

--------

Attached a new zip package - added a small explanatory text to make the resize option more obvious to the user.

No problem... write all styles in forum code, make "new" Admin area - forum color settings and return to YaBB1.1 Grin

PS: in 2.2 need move to CSS and any width defenitions... like in Post.pl

Code
Select All
<td width="23%" align="right"></td>
<td width="77%"><b>$fatxt{'7'}</b><br /><br /></td>

I agree that most elements should be controled from one external css file. But in special cases an element is better of with hardcoded, javascript controlled inline css to make user controlled options posible. Imho the textarea in the post/reply page is such an element. Why? I hear you cry. Because the small size textarea is very nice and handy for small messages like: Quote:
Hi, thnx, goodbye

On the other hand if you would write a very large topic or reply it's much better to have a large size textarea to give an overview of paragraphs and such. Thats why i think the post/reply textarea should be resizable for the user.

All that said, please JetLi and MF-B dont hijack this topic for a battle on sarcasm and other things. This topic is about a mod for resizing the textarea in the currently released version of YaBB 2.2 - whatever happens in the upcoming 2.2.1 bug fix release has nothing to do with this.
