Favorites Lists for SP1.1/SP1.2/SP1.3

Grin

This mod will allow your Members to maintain a "Favorites List" of Topics for quick reference and access.

Features:
A "Favorites List" dropdown box is available if the admin allows the members to use it.(why wouldn't you!?) A "new" label is shown next to any thread in the dropdown box that has a new post in the thread.

Threads for which a Member has marked as a "Favorite" are designated in both the Message Index and Thread Display pages by a small heart.

In the Favorites List management page, threads are marked as new just in the same way they are in the Message Index page. The Favorites List page also shows which Favorites are also in your Notification list by italicizing the subject of the thread.

Favorites List's are grouped by boards for easier reference.

If a Favorite gets moved into a category that is restricted by a membergroup and that Member who had marked that thread as a Favorite does not have access to the new boards parent category, then the Favorite is removed from that members Favorites list.

If you previously had version "beta.9" installed of this mod, then there is no need to upgrade to this version.

@ DP  Smiley

just 2 questions

1.how can i code to see the favorite lists of each users in their profiles,this allow only admin to see the drop down lists.
(this feature is useful on my forum because mine almost all are information provider or announcement topics,i want to know that which topics are so popular to users)
2.how can i create the <yabb favorite> tag,so i can bring the drop down favorite lists to show on the main page via ssi(i'll combine <yabb favorite> tag with the SSI center mod by ironwing)

@ Dummy

I've found that some variable defined in Admin.pl is the same as variable of Forum Staff mod within the same sub routine

In Admin.pl

Code
Select All
my(@deaduser);

Code
Select All
push(@deaduser,$currentmem);

This mod defined the @deaduser
as
Code
Select All
require "$sourcedir/Favor.pl";
remove_favorites(@deaduser);

But in Forum staff mod defined as [in red]
Code
Select All
# Forum Staff Info - Delete User from Membergroup list
      fopen(FILE,"+<$vardir/mem_groups.txt");
            seek FILE, 0, 0;
            @mem_groups = <FILE>;
            truncate FILE, 0;
            seek FILE, 0, 0;
            for ($a = 0; $a < @mem_groups; $a++) {
                  [highlight size=2 color=red background=]foreach $currentmem (@deaduser)[/highlight] {
                        if ( $mem_groups[$a] =[highlight size=2 color=green background=]~ m~\A$currentmem\|~o )[/highlight] { $mem_groups[$a] = ""; last; }
                  }
            }
            print FILE @mem_groups;
      fclose(FILE);

And please explain what does exactly the code in green mean?

I'm not sure is there a need to change the variable name @deaduser to another one both in Admin.pl and Favor.pl.

Thanks in advance

Ok let see what i did to call the drop down favorites list via ssi using <yabb favorite> tag

1.In Favor.pl
<search for>
Code
Select All
$favselect .= qq~</select>~;
      }
}

</search for>

<add after>
Code
Select All
if( $enable_favorites && $enable_favdrop && $username ne 'Guest' ) {
$yyfavorite = qq~$favselect</form>~;
}

</add after>

2.In Subs.pl
<search for>
Code
Select All
$curline =~ s~<yabb\s+(\w+)>~${"yy$1"}~g;

</search for>

<add before>
Code
Select All
$curline =~ s~<yabb favorite>~&favordrop~isg;

</add before>

3.And in SSI_Center.pl
<search for>
Code
Select All
$message =~ s~<yabb\s+(\w+)>~${"yy$1"}~g;

</search for>

<add before>
Code
Select All
##### Add <yabb favorite> can be called via ssi #####
$message =~ s~<yabb favorite>~&favordrop~isg;
##### Add <yabb favorite> can be called via ssi ##### end #####

</add before>

Any comments please

I try the code above it didn't work

Any idea?

Thankz Grin

Now then I click favorite theme in dropdown box, it moves me to the  first topic page. I think it would be better if ir move me to the last page of this topic. Because if I want to check how the topic develops, I don;t need  read all topic from beginning, I want only last answers.

What would you think about it?

Nothing improved since that time.
Could someone help me?
What  I need to change in the Favorites.pl to do that.

and another question.
Even if I go to my Favorites topic and view it, even answer it, I see *New* in dropdown list.
I notice that with sp1.3.1 version, that I update recently. In sp 1.1 it was ok.
