New versions of YaBB/Lack of mods

hello. can i point out that although i'd love to update to the cleaner looking newer SP's of yabb, like 1.3, but i will not because there are many mods that i rely on, including the Quick Reply Box [which prety much quadrupels my post counts] which are not available for 1.3

i think developers should spend a lot of time updating their mods for all versions, and more people will modify to the newer versions of yabb.

for now i'm sticking with YaBB SP1.1
thank you

just a suggestion

Smiley

Uh ... hello ... look before you gripe ... quick reply mod is available for 1.3 and has been for weeks! At this point I'd guess at least 80% of the major mods are available for 1.3!

Yeah, it is a pain when mod writers don't update their mods for new SP versions quickly...  Lips Sealed

While I see what you are saying, the modding community, and the YaBB building community are pretty much seperate things - both sets of people do this stuff in their free time, and some people don't have as much as others.

Also, mod writers have a tougher job, as they have to get used to a lot of new things internally in newer SP versions - File attachment is a good example of this, it is not fully available for SP1.3, not because the mod author hasn't updated it yet, but because the internal changes in YaBB caused no end of problems.

As with many things, being an early adopter is not always a good idea Smiley

People should never complain about no updated mods. Mod writers also do have an own life and don't live just for the YaBB Communities. The mods will be converted sooner or later after a new release of a SP. And errm you're still on SP1.1??? Didn't you've recognized the update to SP1.2? Grin Tongue
